Hiring Guidelines

• Have a current Class A CDL
• At least 23 years of age
• No more than four jobs in the last three years
• Pass company physical, physical assessment, and pre-employment drug test
• No felonies within last 10 years
• Have no major preventable accidents within the past year
• Have no more than three moving violations in the past three years
• Have no prior DWI or DUI's in the past five years
• Meet DOT requirements
• Fulfill physical demands of the job

Orientation

All approved applicants attend a 2 day orientation class. During orientation you will:

• Take a road test
• Receive a DOT physical or have proof of current physical
• Take a physical assessment
• Take a Pre-employment drug screen
• Receive Classroom training

Grand Island Express pays for your bus ticket to orientation. Lodging and Meals provided. You will also receive $150.00 per day for orientation.

Grand Island Express will provide Contractor with in-cab mobile communications FREE of charge

Orientation

Contract Terms

Tractor Specification

• Tractor can be no more than 7 years old
• 260" maximum wheel base
• Must weigh no more than 18,500 lbs with half tank of fuel
• 47" maximum fifth wheel height

Insurance/Escrow

Grand Island Express offers the following types of insurance for each contractor:

• Bobtail Insurance
• Physical Damage Insurance
• Workmen's Comp Insurance

Each contractor may purchase the above Insurance from the carrier of their choice or may purchase insurance from GIX at our fleet rates. Grand Island Express requires each contractor to deposit $1,000.00 into an escrow fund at the beginning of the lease agreement.

Grand Island Express also offers:

Flexible Dispatch Policy

• Drivers select their outbound loads
• Average 2700-3200 miles per week
• Runs to the Northeast, Southeast and Midwest

Passenger Program

• Rider authorization
• Limited authorization for dependents 10 years old or older
• Pet policy

Fuel Program

• EFS fuel card available
• Purchase fuel at GI Express's fleet price

Maintenance Escrow Account Available

• Put money away weekly for major repair emergency

Dedicated Carriers

Pay

• $1.01 on all miles
• Fuel surcharge on loaded miles

Mileage pay includes counting and securing your load, and other assistance to the customer.

• $35,000 Trailer interchange insurance
• $150,000 cargo insurance

Student Drivers

Requirements

• Graduate from Professional Driving Institute with Class A CDL
• Current long form DOT Physical with Medical Card
• At least 23 years of age
• No major preventable accidents within past year
• No major violations in the past 3 years
• No DWI's or DUI's in the past 5 years
• No felonies in the past 10 years

Driver Pay

Base Pay

• $450/week during 6 week training course
• Grand Island Express pays for your bus ticket to orientation. Lodging and Meals provided. You will also receive $150.00 per day for orientation

Other Compensation

• Multiple Drop/Pickup Pay
• Paid Lumpers
• Layover Pay
• Detention Pay
• East Coast Bonus(when applicable)

Insurance Benefits Package

All newly hired associates must complete ALL insurance forms regardless if coverage is elected or not. These forms must be given to the Safety department prior to finishing orientation.

Paid Vacation

• Drivers are eligible of one week paid vacation after one year of employment, and will earn one additional vacation day for each year of service there after with a maximum of 21 days.

401k/Profit Sharing

• Associates are eligible after one year of service.
• GIX will contribute 10% of its net profits into the plan each year.
• Associates may add additional money to their retirement accounts by deferring a portion of their income to the plan.
